Original Irish Hotels Charity Cycle Raises Over €58,000 for the Irish Cancer Society

The Original Irish Hotels Charity Cycle has proven to be an incredible success, raising an impressive €58,688 in support of the Irish Cancer Society. This inspiring event brought together hotel proprietors, staff, and local supporters from across Ireland to embark on a remarkable journey, cycling from Cork to Donegal, stopping off at Original Irish Hotels along the way.

A Journey for a Worthy Cause

The week-long challenge kicked off on September 30th, as teams of cyclists set off on a route that stretched from Mizen Head to Malin Head—the southernmost to the northernmost points of Ireland. Along the way, they stopped at various Original Irish Hotels, including our very own Kiltimagh Park Hotel, showcasing the deep connection these establishments have with their local communities. The event not only celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Wild Atlantic Way but also provided a platform to raise vital funds and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society.

Community Spirit and Dedication

The charity cycle was a true testament to the spirit of community, bringing together Original Irish Hotels with a shared goal: making a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. Every Kilometer traveled was a demonstration of resilience, determination, and generosity.

Among the participants were members of our team at Kiltimagh Park Hotel, who completed a challenging 60km stretch from Kiltimagh to Markree Castle in Sligo. The team ranged from experienced cyclists to leisure riders who were eager to take on the challenge. We are so proud of their efforts and willingness to participate for such a worthy cause.

Reaching and Exceeding the Goal

The initial fundraising goal for the event was set at €50,000, but thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and the unwavering commitment of the cyclists, the total amount raised exceeded expectations. The cheque presentation took place at the November 2024 Original Irish Hotels Members Meeting at Ballyseede Castle, marking the culmination of months of hard work, organisation, and dedication.

Heartfelt Thanks to Supporters

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support from hotel teams, local suppliers, sponsors, and the wider community. A special thanks goes to the main title sponsors, whose generous contributions played a significant role in reaching this remarkable total. Their support helped ensure that the event was a resounding success, both in terms of funds raised and awareness generated.

Supporting the Irish Cancer Society

The Irish Cancer Society plays a vital role in supporting patients, survivors, families, and researchers in the fight against cancer. With cancer affecting communities all over Ireland, this event was a meaningful way for Original Irish Hotels to give back and make a difference. Every euro raised will go towards essential services, research, and support programs that benefit those impacted by cancer.

A Proud Moment for Original Irish Hotels

The Original Irish Hotels Charity Cycle was more than just a fundraising effort—it was a demonstration of unity, perseverance, and goodwill. As a proud member of Original Irish Hotels, Kiltimagh Park Hotel is honored to have been part of such an impactful initiative.

We encourage everyone to continue supporting the Irish Cancer Society and to share this achievement, recognising the outstanding efforts of all those involved. Together, we have shown that when communities come together, incredible things can happen.
